多くのカードバトル型ゲームは「ゲームシステム」と呼ばれるゲームの基盤(ロジックや使い勝手)が共通となっており、世界観を変えることで類似ゲームを展開することができる。GREEが巧みなのは、そこにタレントを起用したテレビCMを投入し、新しいファンを生み出し続けていること。例えば「探検ドリランド」はTOKIOファンに、「海賊王国コロンブス」は福山雅治ファンに、「聖戦ケルベロス」はEXILEファンに、「AKB48 ステージファイター」はAKB48ファンに訴求することで、効率的に新規ファン層を開拓している。一方のMobageは、一世を風靡した「怪盗ロワイヤル」、それに続くロワイヤルシリーズの神通力が途切れ始め、それにかわる大ヒット・タイトルを創出できていない。またカードバトルに慣れ親しんだ利用者は、使い勝手の変わらないゲームを好む傾向がある。そのため「レイトン教授ロワイヤル」など新しいアプローチのゲームが登場しても立ち上がりが鈍いというジレンマがある。
